Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (GKRY), also referred to as the Rural Skills Development Scheme, is an ambitious initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. It aims to train and upskill the rural youth, especially those from economically weaker sections, so they can secure gainful employment or become self-reliant through entrepreneurship.

🎯 Objective of Grameen Kaushalya Yojana

  • Provide industry-relevant skill training to rural youth aged 15–35 years.
  • Enhance employability through certified training programs.
  • Support employment through placement, counseling, and soft skill training.

🛠️ Key Features of GKRY

  1. Free residential/non-residential training in over 50+ job roles.
  2. NSDC certified trainers and industry-standard courses.
  3. Job placement support and post-placement tracking for 12 months.
  4. Stipend for training and accommodation (where applicable).
  5. Special focus on women, SC/ST, and minority youth.

👨‍🎓 Who is Eligible?

  • Unemployed rural youth between 15 and 35 years of age
  • Belonging to BPL families or listed in the SECC 2011 database
  • SC, ST, OBC, minorities, and women are encouraged to apply
  • Preference for school dropouts and those not in regular employment
